Lowell Thomas and A short-cut to Distinction

ALPHABET SERIES /part 12/

The ability to speak is a short-cut to distinction. It puts a man in the limelight, raises him head and shoulders above the crowd. And the man who can speak acceptably is usually given credit for an ability out of all proportion to what he really possesses.

Dale Carnegie claims that any man can talk when he gets mad. He says that if you hit the most ignorant man in town on the jaw and knock him down, he will get on his feet and talk with an eloquence, heat, and emphasis that would have rivaled William Jennings Bryan in his palmiest days. He claims that almost any man can speak acceptably in public if he has self-confidence and an idea that is boiling and stewing within him.

The way to develop self-confidence, he says, is to do the thing you fear to do and get a record of successful experiences behind you.

KABATAAN, SA SAYAW NG PANAHON

This was my feature news written last November 28, 2014. It was officially aired in a radio station (A.M.).  Grateful.  By the way I am an Intern on that radio station and our boss told me to write something about the youth. Second week of December is Youth Week. Masikip. Mainit. Maingay. Tatlong bagay na ibinubulong ng mga miyembro ng League of the Filipino Students (LFS), Anakbayan at Kabataan Party-List habang sila'y hingal na tumatakbo sa kahabaan ng pamosong kalye Mendiola. League of the Filipino Students  Anakbayan Kabataan Party List Ngunit... Karapatan. Kalayaan. Kapayapaan.

Life Today /vol. 2/

What am I thinking just about right now? As a prologue to this self-proclaimed novel, let me first describe this wondrous night of 28th where November is just about to lose its glorious turn in this year of the sheep. Well, the noises were really evident with entertaining voices that were overlapping in a series of changing channels; the night has been splashing icey rains since the weather station announced to has been monitoring a possible typhoon; the smell of freshly brewed coffee that was left intact under my nostrils as I was drinking it earlier before I got home; the frenzied emotion I have feeling as I finally kiss my bed goodnight after that long and tiring battle for eternal city traffic. So imagine how it was entirely engaging (or probably not) to put my thoughts into a thousand repeated letters which I can call my blog. And yeah that was one hell of an introduction! As I am clinging with the literal scenarios of my daily life, I have come to unde...

LIFE TODAY /vol. 1/

I have been wondering lately why some people have already reached what they desired for in lives that easy, while others, with long full of prayers, faith and perseverance are getting piled up in between of success and failures. Unfair isn't it? That's what most of the people would think also. And for the longest of time, I have always found myself clinging to that absurdity. Why not? Think about the times you have to auditioned in a drama play carrying your wit and positive aura but after all you've gone through you were rejected because someone with a beautiful face and appeal suddenly appeared out of nowhere. With his "pa-cute" smile and audience impact, he got in instead of you. Or think about the times you have to walked for a long distance just to go to school while your classmate (who happened to be your neighbor) was always ahead of you because he has a car of his own. Think about the time you have your first crush but he doesn't even turn an inch whe...
